M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi is a 2004 Tamil family-drama film directed by M. Raja. It is a remake of super hit Telugu film Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi starring mass hero Ravi Teja, Prakash Raj, and Jayasudha directed by ace director Puri Jagannath released on 19, April 2003. The film stars Jayam Ravi, Asin Thottumkal, Prakash Raj, Nadhiya in the lead roles while Vivek, Subbaraju and Janagaraj play supporting roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Srikanth Deva.

Plot

For Kumaran (Jayam Ravi) life is all about his mother Mahalakshmi (Nadhiya) who separated from her husband Eshwar (Prakash Raj). Kumaran is passionate about kickboxing and he shares a very special relationship with his mother. In between, Kumaran falls in love with Malabar aka Mythili (Asin Thottumkal). But his life is destroyed after his mother's death. On the deathbed she tells her son to meet his father, a kick boxing champion, who lives in Malaysia. Kumaran goes to Malaysia to meet him and he comes across his father, Eshwar, who is happily settled with a new family. Kumaran gets a job at his father's kickboxing academy. But he finds his father with another wife (Aishwarya) and a daughter. He is angry at this scene. His father trains a boxer, Anand, whom his father is sure that he will win the championship. Anand makes Eshwar's daughter pregnant and leaves her. He also turns traitor to Eshwar and joins another team. The rest of the story is about how Eshwar trains Kumaran against Anand and wins the kickboxing competition, while Kumaran helps his half-sister with her love.

The scene where Jayam Ravi, Vivek hanging on a pipe and then falling into a bathroom was lifted from hindi film Ishq where Ajay Devgan and Aamir Khan did the same thing.[2] Another scene was lifted from the same film, Dubai Sheikh buying a nude statue[3]
